A man was arrested in Houston, Texas, on suspicion of selling and shipping tens of thousands of dollars worth of counterfeit cancer treatment drugs to people across the United States.
Sanjay Kumar, 43, of Bihar, India, was indicted by a federal grand jury on Thursday.
According to the Department of Justice, the suspect was arrested in Houston on Friday while in the United States to negotiate additional deals to expand his illegal business of selling counterfeit cancer drugs in the United States.

Kumar and his co-conspirators are accused of orchestrating the sale and shipment of counterfeit versions of Keytruda and other cancer drugs to unsuspecting people in the United States.
The Justice Department said the real Keytruda is an immuno-oncology therapy approved in the United States for 19 different indications, including the treatment of lung cancer, head and neck cancer, gastric cancer, cervical cancer, breast cancer, Hodgkin lymphoma and melanoma.

According to the Department of Justice, Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC has exclusive rights to manufacture and sell Keytruda in the United States.
Kumar has been charged with one count of conspiracy to traffic counterfeit drugs and four counts of trafficking counterfeit drugs, each of which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted.
