An Indiana man who crashed his truck and was trapped inside his vehicle for nearly a week was found by two good Samaritans who broke their silence on social media Sunday with a message of gratitude.
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Matthew Liam, was heading west on Interstate 94 on Dec. 20 when his truck veered off the road, into a ditch, then went airborne, causing a crash. It overturned several times and fell into the stream under the bridge. , according to preliminary research.
The accident left Reum trapped inside the truck and unable to reach for his cell phone to call for help.
Six days later, two fishermen searching a fishing hole found a truck with what appeared to be a dead body under an overpass. When one of the men touched his body, he was shocked when Reum turned to his face and spoke.

On New Year's Eve, Lum turned to Facebook and broke his silence on the “hundreds and thousands” of people who had contacted him or offered to donate.
“You all took an ordinary person who performed a miracle and turned him into the most grateful person ever. I can't thank you enough,” Lum said. “It's a Christmas miracle in itself that I got through this, but my heart has grown three times bigger this year because of the generosity shown to me.”
He admitted the road ahead will be long and full of “potholes, twists and turns,” but said he feels he can tackle anything with the support he has received since being rescued.

“So for now, thank you. And for the future, let's get this. And Happy New Year,” Reum said.
It took workers several hours to rescue Reum due to the rugged terrain and being trapped inside the truck.
Indiana State Police Sergeant Glenn Fifield told reporters that crews were able to cut him down and remove him as he struggled to get down to the creek with his equipment.

“Frankly, it's a miracle he's alive,” Fifield said.
