Outrage Over TikTok Influencer’s Hotel Coffee Maker Hack
A TikTok influencer has stirred up quite a bit of controversy after seemingly advising her followers to use a hotel coffee maker to wash their underwear while traveling.
Tara Woodcox, boasting over 700,000 followers, caused a stir back in November 2025 with a video demonstrating her unusual method for laundry. In her clip, she suggests placing underwear in the coffee filter compartment and running a brew cycle, allowing hot water to flow over the fabric.
“Just close the lid, hit the brew button, and the hot water does its thing,” she explained in the video.
However, Woodcox later clarified that she had never actually attempted washing her own underwear in a coffee maker. In a recent social media update, she mentioned hearing about the idea ages ago but never trying it herself. “I’ve never actually done it, but this is really interesting, guys,” she noted.
Interestingly, she admitted to generally avoiding hotel coffee makers due to concerns about cleanliness. Yet, the initial video remains popular online, with many expressing disbelief at the suggestion of using shared hotel appliances in such a way.
One Instagram user quipped, “So from now on, every hotel will add a clause saying ‘appliances must only be used for their intended purpose.'” Others shared their concerns, with one commenter admitting, “I’ll never use the coffee maker in my hotel room again!”
The idea has left many users questioning the safety and cleanliness of hotel amenities, with some even choosing to rely solely on hotel restaurants for their meals instead.
This peculiar suggestion raises eyebrows—how can using a coffee machine for laundry really be acceptable? Some readers voiced their frustrations, suggesting it was simply infuriating. Regardless of personal experiences with hotel appliances, Woodcox provided a detailed guide for followers on how the hack supposedly works.
In the video, she also added that a hotel hair dryer could be used to dry the clothes afterward, making a rather light-hearted remark that clean underwear can now be a reality thanks to this hack.
Woodcox expressed her surprise at how many people were already familiar with this laundry method, crediting a flight attendant friend for sharing it years ago.
Attempts to get a comment from Woodcox were unsuccessful as she did not respond immediately. Links to her social media profiles indicate she also identifies as a fitness and nutrition coach, and she is a mother of three.
