Investigation into absent scientists by House Oversight begins after 'UFO General' goes missing

A Congressional investigation has been initiated regarding a number of missing scientists, stemming from the case of a former senior military official who has gone missing, as reported by a House Republican. Rep. Eric Burleson from Missouri expressed particular concern about the disappearance of retired Air Force Gen. William Neil McCasland, who vanished from his Albuquerque home in February, leaving behind his cell phone and glasses.

Burleson noted that his team had previously reached out to McCasland, dubbing him a “UFO general” due to his extensive background in related research, prior to his disappearance. Burleson found it troubling that someone on their list for a separate congressional inquiry suddenly went missing.

McCasland is among eleven individuals involved in nuclear and rocket technology who have either died or disappeared under perplexing circumstances since 2022, many of whom have connections to UFO research. Notably, personal items such as hiking boots, a wallet, and a revolver belonging to one of the missing scientists were reported missing, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office in New Mexico.

While federal authorities have yet to ascertain a connection between these cases, there is increasing apprehension surrounding their shared field and access to sensitive research topics. When questioned about the possibility of foul play in McCasland’s case, Burleson admitted he’s hesitant to make assumptions, yet he felt a strong suspicion that something might be amiss. He pointed out how rare it is for someone to simply walk away from home sans their essentials, citing how he couldn’t even mow his lawn without his phone.

Burleson further asserted that the recent disappearances are unusually coincidental, especially among those engaged in advanced aerospace research. He, alongside House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, has called for an investigation to clarify whether foul play is involved.

Letters have been dispatched to agencies like the FBI, the Army, NASA, and the Department of Energy to obtain further information about the missing individuals. They also requested a briefing by April 27, allowing them a narrow timeframe to gather information.

NASA has indicated that it will form an interagency group to look into the circumstances surrounding the missing scientists but cautioned that no threats have been identified at this stage. A NASA spokesperson emphasized that they remain committed to providing updates as new information arises.

Meanwhile, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt reassured that President Trump is actively collaborating with relevant agencies and the FBI to investigate the situation and discern any potential connections.
