Iowa Man Faces Nearly 100 Charges for Hidden Cameras

A man from Iowa is now confronting almost 100 charges after allegedly concealing a camera in a porta potty during two community events to film numerous individuals, including minors, while they used the restroom.

Tyler Public, 32, was apprehended on October 15 in Marshall County. He faces 36 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and 52 counts of invasion of privacy. Additionally, he has seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and three counts of invasion of privacy in Polk County, according to reports.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office indicated that authorities received a call last month when hidden cameras were discovered in portable restrooms at a cross country meet. This event included middle and high school students and took place at a golf course, where participants realized something was amiss.

“School officials were immediately informed,” stated the sheriff’s office. Further investigations included interviewing potential witnesses and obtaining surveillance footage that might have captured evidence related to the situation.

Following the discovery, the camera was handed over to law enforcement, who utilized video footage from the event to generate partial images of the suspect.

On October 6, law enforcement in Marshall County learned from the Des Moines Police Department about another case they were probing, which was believed to have been committed by the same individual. This incident occurred during the Harvest and Handmade Fair at Water Works Park, just two days before.

The camera had reportedly been positioned inside the toilet bowl to capture the faces of those entering, exiting, and using the restroom, as explained by a spokesperson from the Des Moines Police Department.

Pavlick was arrested without incident at an apartment complex in Des Moines on October 15 and is currently in custody at the Polk County Jail. His bail is set at $100,000 for the case in Des Moines.

As of now, there has been no immediate response from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office or the Des Moines Police Department regarding the case.
