Iowa State tight end Benjamin Brahmer taken to the hospital after collapsing due to a serious hit against Arizona State

Concern After Iowa State Player Collapses on Field

On Saturday, a disturbing incident unfolded during a college football game in Iowa when Benjamin Brahmah, a tight end for Iowa State, collapsed and had to be taken off the field.

While trying to walk away after being tackled, Brahmah fell to the ground. This occurred just as the Cyclones were trailing 24-19 in the fourth quarter, after a strong hit from Arizona State’s Keith Abney II on a pass thrown to him.

Initially, it seemed like Brahmah would be okay as he attempted to stand up, but moments later he lost his balance and fell again. He then lay on the field before needing assistance from medical staff, who eventually carried him away on a cart.

Coach Matt Campbell reported that Brahmah was hospitalized as a “precaution,” yet expressed optimism about his condition. “The feedback we’ve received has been positive. It’s hard to see, but Ben is incredibly tough,” he shared with KCCI.

Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht also expressed relief, saying, “I’m just thankful he’s okay. He’s aware, and we’ll definitely miss him. He’ll come back stronger.”

Brahmah had previously scored a touchdown during the game and was reportedly alert as he left the field.

Despite the concern over Brahmah, the Sun Devils ultimately came out on top, with quarterback Jeff Sims putting up impressive numbers. Sims set an Arizona State record with 228 rushing yards, totaling 405 yards of offense and scoring three touchdowns, including an 88-yard run that expanded their lead.

The Cyclones faced another tough defeat, marking their fourth consecutive loss, after being stopped just shy of a first down in a crucial moment.
