Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement Tuesday evening at a security cabinet meeting. Kiriyathe military command in Tel Aviv warned, “Iran made a big mistake tonight and will pay the price.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made the remarks shortly after Iran fired hundreds of missiles into central and southern Israel, nearly all of which were intercepted by Israeli and American air defenses. Only a few made it ashore. No Israelis were injured or killed.
He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of a terrorist attack in the Tel Aviv suburb of Jaffa earlier in the evening in which two gunmen opened fire on commuters, killing six innocent civilians. I said that at the beginning.
He thanked the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for protecting the country from missile attacks and also thanked the United States. He then launched a warning and vowed that the Iranian regime would learn what his proxies had learned: that Israel is determined to defend itself and punish its enemies.
he repeated the warning It was delivered At the United Nations General Assembly last Friday, when Israeli warplanes bombed Hezbollah's headquarters in Beirut, Lebanon, killing top terrorist Hassan Nasrallah, he said, “If you attack us, we will attack you.'' I will.”
Prime Minister Netanyahu did not say when, where or how an Israeli counterattack would occur. Earlier in the evening, Israeli Defense Forces spokesman Maj. Gen. Daniel Hagari warned that Israel would strike back “at a place and time we decide.”
update: The prime minister's office released a transcript of Netanyahu's remarks.
Dear Israeli people, I would like to begin my remarks by expressing my condolences to the families of those killed in the heinous terrorist attack in Jaffa, and praying for the early recovery of the injured.
Like the missile attack, there was a brutal leader behind this terrorist attack – it came from Tehran.
This evening, Iran once again attacked Israel with hundreds of missiles. This attack failed. It was stopped thanks to Israel's most advanced air defense array in the world. I commend the outstanding achievements of the Israel Defense Forces. This was also prevented thanks to the vigilance and sense of responsibility of the people of Israel. We also appreciate the United States' support for our defense efforts.
Tonight, Iran made a huge mistake – and it will surely pay the price. The Tehran regime does not understand our determination to protect ourselves and pay the price from our enemies.
Sinwar and Daif did not understand this. Neither did Nasrallah or Mohsen. Apparently there are people in Tehran who don't understand this either.
I would.
We follow the rules we have set. Whoever attacks us, we attack them.
This is true wherever you fight the axis of evil. The same is true in Judea and Samaria. It's the same in Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen and Syria, and it's the same in Iran. We are fighting the axis of evil everywhere, including in southern Lebanon and Gaza, where our heroic soldiers are active.
Today, more than ever, the light forces of the world must come together and work together against the Ayatollah's dark regime, the source of fear and evil in our region. They must stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel. The choice between tyranny and freedom, blessing and curse has never been clearer.
On the eve of Rosh Hashana, I say this to the people of Israel: Israel has momentum and the axis of evil is retreating. We will do whatever it takes to continue this trend. To achieve all our war goals, especially the return of all hostages, and to secure our existence and our future.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy new year.
