Iran, Israel, and the US acknowledge that Iran's nuclear facilities suffered significant damage.

US Strikes Severely Damage Iran’s Nuclear Facilities

President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that recent strikes had significantly impaired Iran’s nuclear facilities, claiming “destruction” of critical infrastructure. Ismail Baghhai, a spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed the damage, stating, “Our nuclear facilities have been severely damaged, and that’s certainly true,” according to Al Jazeera.

Damage Assessment

Israeli Defense Secretary General Eyal Zamir noted that Iran’s nuclear program was “significantly damaged.” Meanwhile, Israel’s Atomic Energy Commission labeled the US strikes as “catastrophic.” “The US strike against Fordo has destroyed the site’s critical infrastructure and rendered the enrichment facility inoperable,” they stated, emphasizing the long-term setback it poses to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Trump has warned that further military action will follow if Iran attempts to renew its nuclear program. In a related context, Dan “Razin” Kane, chairman of the US assessment team, revealed that three key sites had suffered serious damage. He detailed a comprehensive aerial assault involving B-2 stealth bombers, advanced fighter jets, and numerous support aircraft.

Investigation into Information Leaks

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth mentioned, “It was devastated under the Fordow given the 30,000-pound explosion.” Concurrently, there’s an ongoing FBI investigation into possible leaks related to intelligence reports about these strikes against Iran. Hegseth remarked, “If not, there is no rating to convey what you’re guessing from other motives.”

Confusion surrounds the extent of the damage assessed, with leaks suggesting that not all nuclear sites have been destroyed as initially believed. An analyst from the Defense Intelligence Reports Agency indicated that previous reports relied on outdated information. The assessment is said to be preliminary, and updates will come as new data emerges.

Reactions from Officials

Secretary of State Marco Rubio disagreed with the leaks, claiming that Iran’s capabilities had shifted drastically since the strikes. “Everything under that mountain is in bad condition,” he insisted. Rubio even expressed skepticism that any progress could be made in talks with Iran, asserting, “There is no way for Iran to come to the table, even if nothing happened.”

Rafael Mariano Grossi from the International Atomic Energy Agency expressed concern, stating that “very great damage is expected.” Observations have confirmed follow-up attacks on buildings related to uranium conversion processes, further complicating the situation.

During this tense backdrop, Trump was at the NATO summit in the Netherlands, where he was commended for his decisive actions. NATO Executive Director Mark Latte praised Trump, calling him a “man of power” and “peace.” He commented, “I want to recognize your decisive actions towards Iran,” signaling support for the US’s approach.

The president reiterated that the US would respond with further strikes if Iran proceeds to rebuild its nuclear capabilities. The situation remains fluid, with ongoing assessments and international reactions continuing to shape the narrative.
