Iran prepares for military drills in the Strait of Hormuz following Trump's warning

In the midst of escalating tensions with Iran, the country is set to conduct live-fire military exercises in the Strait of Hormuz next week. This follows President Trump’s announcement that a significant U.S. naval presence is approaching the region.

According to Iranian state media, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ navy will carry out these exercises. This news came just a day after Trump revealed that the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group was being deployed to Iran.

On Truth Social, Trump urged Tehran to swiftly resume negotiations regarding its nuclear ambitions. He warned that the naval fleet is prepared to respond “swiftly and violently” if required.

“Time is running out. This is really important! As I told Iran before, secure a deal! They didn’t, and ‘Operation Midnight Hammer’ happened, which caused massive destruction in Iran,” he stated. “The next attack will be even worse! Please don’t let it happen again.”

In June, U.S. military action included B-2 bombers and Tomahawk missiles targeting Iranian nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. These bombers conducted a 37-hour, nonstop mission from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, executing airstrikes on these facilities.

With U.S. assets moving into the area, President Trump is contemplating further military action against Iran, especially amid heightened global attention regarding the Iranian regime’s violent crackdown on protesters, which has resulted in many casualties.

Iran, on the other hand, has made clear its intention to retaliate vigorously against any new U.S. military strikes, accusing the U.S. and its allies of trying to use recent unrest to escalate conflict in the region. The Iranian foreign minister emphasized that, unlike their earlier restraint in June 2025, they would not hesitate to respond forcefully if attacked again.
