Iran Issues Threats Following Trump’s Address

After President Donald Trump’s prime-time address from the White House on Wednesday night, Iran launched a series of vehement threats toward the United States. Trump remarked that the U.S. was “very close” to a significant goal regarding Iran, but he cautioned that attacks would intensify if the Iranian regime does not engage in negotiations.

Before his speech, Trump posted on Truth Social indicating that Iran had requested a ceasefire from the U.S. He added, “We will consider when the Strait of Hormuz will be open, free and transparent. Until then, we will either blow Iran into oblivion or, as the saying goes, return it to the Stone Age!!!”

Reports from AFP indicate that in response to threats from Iran, Israeli air defenses were activated amid various confrontations, resulting in minor injuries to four individuals in the Tel Aviv area.

Iran’s military leader, Khatam al-Anbiya, made a statement on state television, announcing that the U.S. and Israel should prepare for “more devastating, broader and more destructive actions.” He insisted that their conflict would continue until the U.S. surrenders and “repents.”

For a long time, Iran has dismissed U.S. ceasefire proposals, labeling recent American attempts to ease tensions as “extremist and irrational.” This strong response comes in the context of years of hostile rhetoric from Iran towards the U.S., filled with threats that appear empty.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Bakaei, informed the ISNA news agency that while messages are being relayed through intermediaries, such as Pakistan, there are currently no direct negotiations with the U.S.

Trump warned that if an agreement isn’t reached, the U.S. would target significant sites, including Iran’s domestic power facilities.
