Iran seems to have disregarded President Donald Trump’s call for adherence to a ceasefire brokered between them and Israel. On Tuesday, Israel declared its intent to address purported violations of this ceasefire. Israeli Defense Minister Katz stated that he had directed troops to prepare for an attack on Tehran. Additionally, the chief of the Israeli Defense Forces announced a readiness to “react to the army,” hinting at possible military actions.
Although reports indicate that Iranian forces are not violating the ceasefire, the IDF reported on Tuesday that air raid sirens were sounding across the nation.
A senior Israeli official, speaking confidentially, expressed concerns regarding possible imminent missile strikes from Iran, suggesting that Tehran is on the verge of launching more missiles. This official conveyed, “Unfortunately, the Iranians have decided to continue their attacks on Israel. I believe two missiles will be fired shortly.”
Before the ceasefire was implemented, tensions escalated with Israel conducting a series of airstrikes in response to Iranian missile launches, which tragically resulted in at least four casualties.
Trump, voicing his discontent with the situation, appealed for both nations to cease hostilities. He took to social media urging Israel not to launch attacks. Outside the White House, prior to his departure for a NATO summit in the Netherlands, Trump also expressed frustration over Israel’s actions, stating, “I need to calm Israel now. I’m not pleased that they launched strikes this morning. I will see if it can be halted.”
Interestingly, Trump later revealed a belief that the conflict might just be a long-standing struggle between the two nations, suggesting they’ve been at odds for quite some time.
Following his conversation with the media, Trump posted, asserting that Israel did not attack Iran and the ceasefire was holding. He further noted, “Israel is not going to attack Iran. All aircraft should return home,” reiterating that Iran would not be allowed to rebuild its nuclear capabilities.
