Iran Responds: Strikes Bahrain and Kuwait Following U.S. Attacks

Iranian Strikes on Bahrain and Kuwait Following US Attacks

Early Sunday, Bahrain and Kuwait faced missile and drone strikes from Iran, a direct reaction to recent US airstrikes targeting the Islamic Republic. Iranian officials have cautioned that if the US continues its military actions, it could lead to a total breakdown in negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict.

The Kuwaiti military confirmed that their air defenses successfully intercepted two ballistic missiles shortly after the attacks authorized by CENTCOM.

Kuwait, which hosts a significant US military installation, reported no injuries or damage from the interceptions.

Meanwhile, Bahrain’s interior ministry indicated that Iranian airstrikes had caused damage to residential areas near their international airport, although there were no reported casualties.

Images released by the ministry showcased an eight-story building that sustained considerable damage, with the top floor destroyed and windows blown out.

In a broader military response, the US carried out strikes on ten Iranian targets after Tehran launched a drone attack on a tanker, which was flying a Panamanian flag and carrying over 2 million barrels of crude oil.

US President Donald Trump noted the motivations behind these actions almost immediately.

Current attempts to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz without Iranian control have escalated into confrontations, threatening stalled negotiations for a lasting ceasefire, as reported by the Associated Press. Iran has historically claimed that it must maintain sole oversight over the strait, a critical maritime route that once accounted for a significant portion of global oil and gas transportation.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragushi reiterated this stance during a visit to Iraq on Sunday, warning against interference in Iran’s control of the strait, suggesting it would only exacerbate tensions and delays.

He emphasized the need for all involved parties to adhere to previously agreed-upon protocols to prevent further escalations, especially after a series of recent attacks between the nations.
