Iran Urges Britain to Halt Support for America's Operation Epic Fury Strikes

Iran Critiques UK over Middle East Support

During a recent phone call with London, Iran’s foreign minister expressed discontent with the British government’s perceived support for Operation Epic Fury, labeling Britain’s stance as “negative and biased.”

Tehran urged the US and Israel to cease their attacks on Iran and provide assurances against future actions. The Iranian government also urged Britain to stop aiding what they referred to as “Zionist terrorist networks” by facilitating military operations in the region.

In a conversation between Iranian Minister Abbas Araghchi and the UK’s Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, it was stated that they “exchanged views” regarding “the war imposed by the United States and the Zionist regime.” Araghchi emphasized that while Iran doesn’t desire conflict with its neighbors, it feels compelled to respond to US actions.

The Downing Street Correspondents’ Association addressed Tehran’s comments, clarifying that the UK did not participate in the initial attack and maintained a clear stance against engaging in a broader conflict. A spokesperson for the Prime Minister noted that the UK allows the US to use its bases for specific defensive purposes, aiming to counter Iran’s continuous aggression and restore diplomatic avenues.

Despite this, the Iranian government disagrees, with Araghchi criticizing the UK’s biased position regarding what they view as an invasion that contravenes international law.

Araghchi further stated that even if the UK defines its actions as solely defensive, permitting the US to utilize British bases would, in reality, amount to involvement in an invasion. Iran insisted that Britain should refrain from any military or media collaboration with the US and the Zionist regime, especially concerning support for terrorist operations.

Iran reprimanded Britain, indicating that any assistance to the US would be noted in the history of their bilateral relations. Nevertheless, Iran firmly asserted its right to defend its sovereignty and independence, a statement that carried an implicit warning.
