IRS announces bigger estate and gift tax exemption for 2025 – CNBC

The Internal Revenue Service announced increases in inheritance and gift tax exemptions for 2025.

The higher estate and gift tax exemptions enacted by former President Donald Trump will be repealed starting in 2025 without action from Congress. If this provision expires, the exclusion will revert to its inflation-adjusted 2017 level. Tax Cuts and Jobs Act doubled the exemption amount According to the Tax Policy Center, it amounted to $11.18 million in 2018.
