New Series: Dutton Ranch
So, is Texas ready for Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler? The new series, created by Chad Feehan alongside Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, picks up after the tragic assassination of John Dutton and the sale of their family ranch to the Broken Rock Reservation. Beth and Rip, our central characters, begin their new farming venture in South Texas.
The first two episodes of the nine-part inaugural season, brought to life by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, will launch globally on May 15 on Paramount+. Finn Little returns as Carter, the surrogate son of Beth and Rip. Alongside him are notable actors like Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, JR Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, and Natalie Alyn Lind.
According to the series description, as Beth and Rip strive to create a future together, they encounter a harsh new world and ruthless rivals who are hell-bent on preserving their own empire. In South Texas, deep family ties, fleeting forgiveness, and survival come at a cost—possibly even one’s soul.
The teaser for Dutton Ranch offers a sneak peek into what lies ahead. It opens with Rip finding a dead body on their land—something that doesn’t seem to faze him much. In another scene, Beth strides toward two police officers, visibly shaken and brandishing a gun. The clip also shows the couple on their new porch later that night. “What a day it’s been,” Beth says with fatigue. “Welcome to Texas,” replies Rip, offering her a drink.
Alongside a country music cover of Eminem’s “Till I Collapse,” there are glimpses of Beth taking charge in a meeting, asserting herself with a man, and interacting with Ed Harris’s character, Everett McKinney, a local veterinarian. Notably, there’s a tense exchange between Beth and Beulah Jackson, played by Bening, who is portrayed as a crafty and charming Texas rancher.
“Heritage is a beautiful thing,” Beth tells Beulah, adding, “But only if they survive.” Just as their eyes meet, the screen erupts with action, culminating in a dramatic slow-motion scene of Rip and Beth walking away from a burning mobile home.
More details will emerge as the premiere approaches in spring. Until then, all five seasons of Yellowstone are available for streaming on Peacock, along with other series from Sheridan on Paramount+.
