Trump Announces Ceasefire Agreements Involving Israel and Hamas
On Saturday afternoon, President Donald Trump revealed that Israel had accepted the proposed withdrawal line, contingent on Hamas agreeing to a ceasefire. He shared a map illustrating the withdrawal line on his platform, Truth Social.
Trump noted, “After negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial line of withdrawal. Once Hamas confirms, the ceasefire will begin immediately, allowing for the exchange of hostages, which will set the stage for the next withdrawal phase.”
Earlier, on Friday morning, Trump had given Hamas a deadline of Sunday at 6 PM to finalize the peace agreement, warning that failure to comply would result in severe consequences, stating, “All hell breaks against Hamas, like no one has ever seen before.”
Shortly after this announcement, Hamas agreed to participate in peace talks and indicated a willingness to release the remaining hostages. According to Al Jazeera, Palestinian factions expressed readiness to release all Israeli prisoners, alive or deceased, based on Trump’s proposed exchange plan to conclude Israel’s military efforts in Gaza.
Hamas confirmed their readiness to negotiate immediately through mediators to detail the terms of this contract. They also expressed agreement to transfer control of Gaza to independent Palestinian technocrats based on broader Palestinian consensus and support from Arab and Islamic nations.
Following this, Trump indicated that he believed Hamas was open to a lasting peace and called on Israel to cease bombings in Gaza.
He also released a video from the Oval Office, asserting that peace in the Middle East is within reach. He thanked neighboring countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, and Jordan for their support in pursuing serious negotiations.
Describing the day as unprecedented, Trump expressed appreciation for the efforts and cooperation from other nations, stating, “Everyone is united in wanting to end this war and establish peace in the Middle East. We are very close to achieving it. Thank you. Everyone is treated fairly,” he concluded.
