Israeli Military Strikes Hamas After Ceasefire Violations

The Israeli military launched an assault on Hamas in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, following accusations that the militant group had repeatedly breached ceasefire agreements.

Officials from the Israeli military confirmed that this action came after Hamas executed its first attack since Friday. According to an official, all assaults on Israeli forces occurred beyond the designated withdrawal line, as established by the ceasefire terms.

“Hamas has crossed a critical line by conducting several aggressive actions against our troops, including RPG fire and sniping,” noted the official.

“Both incidents took place within the territory under Israeli control, which is a blatant violation of the ceasefire,” the official added.

In response, Israel targeted locations both north and south of the Gaza Strip. This escalation occurred in the context of recent hostilities, wherein Hamas had been engaged in conflicts with Palestinian rivals following the implementation of the ceasefire.

Reports indicate that Hamas has executed at least 33 individuals recently, described by authorities as a “demonstration of power” in the wake of the ceasefire. Israeli sources revealed that most victims belonged to families suspected of collaborating with Israel or supporting opposing militias.

The U.S. State Department issued a warning on Saturday that Hamas could undermine the agreement through “premeditated attacks” targeting Palestinian civilians.

“Any planned attack on Palestinian civilians is a serious breach of the ceasefire and jeopardizes the vital progress made through mediation efforts,” the Department stated on social media. “We urge Hamas to uphold its responsibilities under the ceasefire.”

“The United States and our partners remain committed to ensuring civilian safety, stabilizing the situation on the ground, and fostering peace and prosperity for the people in Gaza and the region as a whole,” the statement concluded.

President Donald Trump issued a warning to Hamas on Friday, stating that ongoing violence against Palestinians may compel the U.S. and Israel to take action.

“If Hamas persists in violence against civilians in breach of the agreement, we will be left with no option but to respond decisively,” he expressed on social media.
