Israel Closes Dublin Embassy After Ireland Joins South Africa’s ‘Genocide’ Case

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced on Sunday that Israel would close its embassy in Ireland following the country's decision to join South Africa's “genocide” claims at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

South Africa has filed suit against Israel at the ICJ, accusing Israel of committing “genocide” in response to the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas. The South African incident includes claims that Jews have no right to defend themselves when attacked, and misquoting the Bible and Jewish teachings to suggest that Jews are evil for their own religious reasons. It contains elements of classic anti-Semitism, such as claiming that They don't even acknowledge Hamas' genocidal ideology.

The South African case failed to gain much traction even before a sympathetic court biased toward Israel. Nevertheless, the government decided last week to join South Africa's “genocide” case. However, critics point out that this changes the definition of “genocide.'' For example, the Foundation for Defense of Democracies observed: 'Ireland will also ask the Court to develop and use a broader definition of the term 'genocide'.

era of israel reported:

Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced that the Israeli embassy in Ireland would be closed due to the “extreme anti-Israel policies of the Irish government.”

“Ireland's anti-Semitic actions and rhetoric towards Israel are based on the delegitimization and demonization of the Jewish state and double standards,” Searle said in a statement. “Ireland has crossed all the red lines in its relations with Israel. Israel will invest resources in promoting bilateral relations with the countries of the world, in accordance with priorities that also derive from each country's attitude towards Israel. Dew.”

At the same time, Prime Minister Saar announced that Israel would open an embassy in Moldova, where Israel already has an embassy in Israel. It is scheduled to open next year, and Israel has begun the process of finding a site and appointing an ambassador.

Israel recalled its ambassador to Ireland in May after joining Spain and Norway in recognizing a Palestinian state. Such a state does not physically exist. This recognition effectively rewards Hamas for the October 7 terrorist attack.

There was long-standing sympathy for the Palestinian cause in the movement for Irish sovereignty over the entire island, which includes the six counties of Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom. Terrorist elements are lurking in both causes. The difference is that the Irish Republican Army finally agreed to end the violence. Hamas and the Palestinian cause continue to commit acts of terrorism and refuse to accept the existence of Israel.
