Israel conducts strikes in Gaza following claims of Hamas breaking the ceasefire with several attacks.

The Israeli military launched strikes against Hamas in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, claiming that the group had repeatedly breached ceasefire terms.

Military officials acknowledged to Fox News that these actions followed Hamas’s first assault since Friday. An official indicated that all hostilities occurred outside the bounds of Israeli withdrawal as stipulated in the ceasefire agreement.

“Hamas crossed the line and executed various attacks against our forces, including RPG fire and sniper shots,” the official relayed to Fox News.

“Both events unfolded in areas controlled by Israel, east of the designated line, marking a clear violation of the ceasefire,” the official emphasized.

In retaliation, Israel targeted regions both north and south of Gaza.

These reports of attacks on Israeli forces came in the wake of Hamas engaging in conflicts with Palestinian opponents after a ceasefire was established.

According to Reuters, Hamas has reportedly executed at least 33 individuals recently, described by authorities as a demonstration of power following the ceasefire. Many of those executed were from families suspected of espionage or supporting rival factions.

On Saturday, the US State Department cautioned that Hamas might disrupt the peace deal with premeditated assaults on civilians in Palestine.

“This orchestrated aggression against Palestinian civilians is a serious breach of the ceasefire and threatens the significant progress made through mediation,” a ministry statement asserted on social media. “We urge Hamas to uphold its commitments under the ceasefire agreement.”

“The United States and other guarantors remain committed to ensuring civilian safety, maintaining stability, and fostering peace and prosperity for the people in Gaza and the broader region,” the statement added.

President Donald Trump warned on Friday that further attacks by Hamas against Palestinians might compel the US and Israel to take action. “If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza contrary to the agreement, we have no choice but to intervene,” he posted on X.
