The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Sunday released photos of a cache of heavy weapons discovered by soldiers in the maternity ward during an ongoing anti-terrorist operation inside Gaza’s Shifa Hospital.
As Breitbart News reported, the IDF cleared the hospital in November and discovered numerous horror tunnels there. Once the hospital left, more terrorists came to the hospital and began operating from the facility again, which was a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
Following the attack from Shifa, the IDF has killed around 200 terrorists and arrested around 500 more in Shifa in the past two weeks. There were no civilian casualties and no harm was caused to doctors, patients or staff.
The IDF and the Israel Security Agency (ISA) said in a joint statement:
As part of the IDF and ISA operation led by the 162nd Division at Shifa Hospital, soldiers from the Nahal Reconnaissance Force operated in several buildings, eliminated terrorists and discovered a large number of weapons hidden in the hospital.
In the maternity ward, the soldiers found dozens of mortar shells, explosives, sniper rifles, Kalashnikovs, pistols, magazines, mortar shells, hidden in pillows, hospital beds, ceilings and walls of the compound. Found many weapons, including additional ammunition.
During a sweep of the compound, troops encountered armed terrorists and senior operatives of the terrorist organization Hamas in a stairwell. A chase and gunfight ensued, during which the senior terrorist was eliminated.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Helj Halevi also visited the hospital on Friday, as operations against terrorists at the facility continue.
“Not a single medical staff member was harmed in this operation, no patient was harmed, and a significant number of terrorists were eliminated,” he said in a statement released by the IDF.
The Israeli government has noted the silence of the World Health Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and other international medical organizations, none of which have protested the use of hospitals by terrorists.
In the United States, Harvard University students held a vigil for the alleged “victims” of Shifa Hospital, all of whom were terrorists.
