Israel Flores Ortiz sentenced to 360 days for inappropriately touching girls at a Virginia high school

Parents in Virginia upset after undocumented immigrant charged with inappropriately touching girls at school

Israel Flores Ortiz, an 18-year-old undocumented immigrant, received a sentence of 360 days in prison on Tuesday after being found guilty of molesting several female students at Fairfax High School earlier this year.

With time served and considering the misdemeanor charges, he has about 135 days remaining to serve.

During the sentencing, Judge Melinda Vanlow described the case as “very difficult,” noting that the behavior exhibited by Flores Ortiz was “targeted” and part of a “deplorable” pattern.

Although charged as an adult, most of the victims were minors, leading to their cases being heard in juvenile court. Flores Ortiz was convicted in nine instances, acquitted in three, and one charge was dismissed. He initially faced allegations from 13 classmates, according to reports from the local police station.

The incidents raised safety concerns among parents, particularly in light of former President Joe Biden’s open border policies.

Flores Ortiz, who is from El Salvador, illegally entered the U.S. in 2024.

During the sentencing, defense attorneys claimed the case had been politicized, referring to attention surrounding Flores Ortiz and mentioning former President Donald Trump. One attorney remarked, “When a person touches another person… sometimes we arrest them in ways we don’t want them to,” alluding to societal dynamics.

The defense argued for minimal jail time, suggesting that Flores Ortiz’s youth—his brain not being as developed as that of a 25-year-old—should be a significant factor. They contended that his actions were not motivated by sexual desires, framing the behavior as immature and likening it to a joke or prank a teenager might think was funny.

“Only a teenager would think like that,” the lawyer stated.

In contrast, a lawyer for one of the victims rejected any political alignment surrounding the case, insisting, “We shouldn’t politicize this.”

The defense claimed that Flores Ortiz expressed remorse for his actions, admitting they were deplorable and habitual.

The situation arose from a series of incidents in a crowded school hallway where Flores Ortiz was accused of molesting a student. The allegations prompted heightened concern about school supervision and safety within the halls of Fairfax County.

The Department of Education commented on the situation, stating, “Virginia’s experiment in radical gender ideology, race-based admissions, far-left indoctrination, and illegal discrimination has caused untold harm to our students. That has to stop.”
