Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the only way forward is to end the Israel-Hamas war and reach a two-state solution with the Palestinians. He said he believed it was the right thing to do.
Host Kristen Welker said, “As you know, looming large over this event, including for some protesters, is the war in the Middle East, and in fact, a new Gallup poll shows opposition to Israel’s war in Gaza. “The approval rating has fallen from 50% to 36%.” Since November. The fundraiser has had multiple interruptions and a growing number of Democrats, including Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, have called it a genocide. Congressman, do you agree with Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez that what is happening is actually genocide? ”
Clyburn said, “Well, I haven’t really analyzed it that far, but I’ll tell you this: What’s going on is wrong and they need to fix it, and that’s what President Biden is going to do.” And we’re trying to get it right. In this poll, there was more dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu than with the people of Israel. We stand with the people of Israel. We stand with the people of Israel. I don’t like the fact that the policy is a two-state solution and that Prime Minister Netanyahu has undermined that two-state solution throughout his time in office. He sold his soul to the Israeli right to maintain his power. He did so. People are against a two-state solution. Biden supports a two-state solution. Democrats support a two-state solution. That’s the only way we can move forward. So this support. The decline in rates has nothing to do with the Israeli people and everything to do with Prime Minister Netanyahu.”
