Israel Responds with Airstrikes in Yemen
On Sunday, Israel conducted airstrikes in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, following a ballistic missile attack launched by the Houthis, which had activated sirens in Israel. Yemeni health officials reported that six individuals lost their lives and many more were injured. The Israeli strikes targeted a military facility near Yemen’s Presidential Palace, also damaging two power plants and a fuel depot.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated, “Anyone who attacks us, we attack them. Anyone who plans to attack us, we will attack them. I think the whole region is learning Israel’s power and resolve.” This declaration underscores Israel’s firm stance.
On Friday, the Houthis had launched a missile equipped with a cluster bomb warhead.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz emphasized, “We continue to impose air and naval blockades and achieve infrastructure goals. This is aimed at promoting Houthi terrorism. For every missile aimed at Israel, the Houthis will pay dearly.”
Katz went as far as to liken Israel’s response to the ten plagues of Egypt, as mentioned in the Exodus. He issued a stark warning: “Today we have brought a dark plague to the Houthis.”
Previously, Katz had cautioned that “The Gate of Hell will soon open for the Hamas murderers and rapists of Gaza” until they meet Israel’s demands, notably the release of all hostages and their disarmament.
The airstrikes coincided with Israeli Defense Forces intensifying bombing in the eastern and northern suburbs of Gaza, as reported by CBN News.
Moreover, tens of thousands of reserve soldiers are expected to report for duty on September 2nd.
On Sunday, Houthi official Abdul Kader al-Murtada remarked that the Houthis, who govern the majority of Yemen’s population, remain committed to supporting the Palestinians in Gaza. “Israel must know that no matter what the sacrifice is, they will not abandon their Gaza brothers,” he stated.
