Israel reveals upcoming steps in the conflict with Hamas in Gaza City.

Israeli Military Expands Operations Against Hamas

Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, the head of Israel’s Secretary of Defense, outlined the next phase of the conflict with Hamas during a visit to IDF soldiers in Gaza on Sunday. He indicated that the momentum of “Operation Gideon Tanks” will be central to this new stage.

“Today, we’re moving forward with our plans for the war. Similar to previous operations in various regions, including Iran and Lebanon, we’re focused on reshaping the security landscape,” Zamir stated.

He emphasized that the campaign will maintain its intensity in Gaza City, stating that until Hamas suffers a significant defeat, the plight of hostages will remain a priority.

Israeli Security Plans for Gaza City

Zamir indicated that the Israeli security cabinet has authorized strategies to occupy Gaza City, enhancing the offensive against Hamas. “We’re set to advance in Operation Gideon’s Tank, intensifying our efforts until we achieve a decisive defeat for Hamas,” he noted. He further described the current military actions as part of a broader, long-term strategy targeting various components of the adversarial axis, with Iran being a primary focus.

During his address, Zamir expressed gratitude to the soldiers for their dedication over the past months and reiterated the importance of securing the release of hostages.

Plans for Gaza Under Israeli Control

His comments followed a recent announcement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about plans for a prolonged Israeli presence in the Gaza Strip post-conflict. This strategy is set to be approved by Israeli Security Ministers and will see Defense Minister Katz overseeing operations with an expected deployment of over 400,000 military reserves by November 30th.
