Israel Shares Footage of Gunmen in UN Compound in Rafah

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Tuesday shared terrorist drone footage of terrorist gunfire near several United Nations (UN) vehicles at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) compound in Rafah.

It is unclear whether the terrorists were threatening or cooperating with UN staff on the ground.

However, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said the UN was collaborating with terrorists and called on UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini to resign (as Katz had done in the past).

The IDF issued the following statement:

On Saturday, terrorists were seen inside UNRWA’s central logistics facility alongside a UN vehicle during an IDF operation in eastern Rafah.

Footage shows numerous terrorists and gunfire seen near UN vehicles and inside UNRWA’s logistics warehouse compound east of Rafah, which is a focal point for distributing aid on behalf of UNRWA in the Gaza Strip.

After the event, representatives from the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) informed senior officials of the international community of their findings and called on the United Nations to conduct an urgent investigation into the matter.

Additionally, COGAT representatives alerted the United Nations to the seriousness of the danger posed by the presence of terrorists on the premises of the logistics center, regarding the presence of terrorists in the area and the continued protection of organizational facilities.

IDF continues to act in accordance with international law to distribute aid to residents of the Gaza Strip.

Israel believes UNRWA is corrupted by ties to terrorists and says it is perpetuating the conflict by indoctrinating Palestinians to consider themselves “refugees.”

Israel has been operating in Rafah for eight days, slowly confronting terrorists in Hamas’ last stronghold in Gaza.
