Israel Striking Hezbollah Makes It Harder to Get Ceasefire Biden ‘Urgently’ Wants

On MSNBC's “Morning Joe” broadcast Friday, Harris Waltz co-chair Sen. Chris Coons (D-Delaware) said Hezbollah's continued “escalating” attacks on Israel, “this shocking incident of remote-controlled detonation of pagers and walkie-talkies,” as well as “the ongoing ground war in Gaza” make it “more difficult than ever” to reach a ceasefire agreement that “President Biden so urgently wants to achieve.” But the Biden administration is pressing both Hamas and Israel to reach an agreement.

Kuhn said:[I]It is heartbreaking that we came so close to a ceasefire and hostage agreement. I know senior Biden campaign officials are in the region continuing to explore ways to bring Hamas to the negotiating table through Qatar and Egypt and finally get this ceasefire and hostage agreement through. They are also pressuring Israel and Prime Minister Netanyahu, but the escalating Hezbollah attacks in northern Israel, this shocking incident of a remote-controlled detonation of a pager and walkie-talkie, and the continued ground fighting in Gaza make it harder than ever to imagine a ceasefire agreement coming together. I know President Biden wants to get this done as a matter of urgency.”
