Kibbutz Nir Oz said in a press statement:

Kibbutz Nir Oz announces with deep sadness that Elad Katsir has been killed after being taken hostage in Gaza and subjected to months of torture. According to information provided by the IDF, Elad was killed as a hostage in January and his body was returned to Israel today during a military operation.

Elad was 47 years old and a member of Kibbutz Nir Oz. His father, Rami Katsir, was killed in the October 7 massacre, and his mother, Hana Katsir, was also abducted to Gaza and later released.

Elad was a man of laughter, hugs, happiness, the fields and the land. He was especially loved by the children, members and residents of the kibbutz.

May his memory be a blessing.

IDF and ISA extend their deepest condolences to the bereaved families.

His mother, Hanna, was also abducted by the Islamic Jihad terrorist group and released on November 24 as part of an abductee release agreement, and his father, Abraham, was also killed on the kibbutz.

Our mission is to locate and return abductees to their home countries. The IDF and ISA are working in full coordination with relevant national and security agencies and will continue to do so until the mission is completed.
