Israeli Foreign Minister Calls Ireland President ‘Antisemitic Liar’ over Egypt Settlement Claim

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on Tuesday that Ireland's Michael D. He called President Higgins an “anti-Semitic liar.”

The latest salvo comes after Ireland, Norway and Spain – an unusual move among European countries – decided earlier this year to recognize Palestine as a state in the wake of the October 7 terrorist attacks. This further deepened the diplomatic rift.

Ireland last week decided to join South Africa's case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), where South Africa accuses Israel of “genocide”. In response, Israel closed its embassy in Dublin.

saar accused Mr Higgins' reaction on Tuesday to the Irish government's “anti-Semitic rhetoric”.

Higgins claimed that Israel had committed “slander” against the Irish, but then went on to make the bizarre (and false) claim that Israel was trying to settle people in Egypt.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel answered About X:

Once an anti-Semitic liar, always an anti-Semitic liar.

Ireland's president reached a new low when he lied that Israel was “violating the sovereignty of three neighboring countries in its relations with Lebanon and Syria, and actually wants a settlement in Egypt.”

Let's get the facts straight.

Israel's sovereignty from Lebanese territory continued to be violated for more than a year. Without reason or provocation, Hezbollah joined Hamas on October 8 and has since launched tens of thousands of missiles, rockets, and drones against Israeli citizens and communities. Israel did what any nation would do. They defended themselves from brutal invaders.

Syria: While the Assad regime was falling, armed groups invaded the buffer zone and attacked UNDOF forces, in violation of the 1974 military disengagement agreement. Israel temporarily entered a number of limited locations to prevent Islamic extremist threats to its people and communities.

Israel will not wait for October 7th on any of its borders.

Regarding Egypt, Higgins fabricated claims that Israel was attempting to establish settlements in Egypt.

Fact: In the context of the peace agreement with Egypt, Israel withdrew from a vast area, the entire Sinai Desert, and uprooted all communities there. This peace agreement has been in place since 1979.

And if we are to discuss historical truth, we must remember that during World War II, Ireland was at best a neutral country.
At the time, the free world was fighting the Hitler Axis, and Ireland stood by and did nothing.

Irish voters are more pro-Israel than the government. For this year's Eurovision song, Irish entry Devilish artist Baymy Thug called for a boycott of Israel's entry, although the latter received the second-highest number of votes from Irish viewers.
