On Inauguration Day, Israeli President Isaac Herzog praised Donald Trump as a “true friend” of the country and thanked him for his efforts to secure the release of hostages from Hamas.
“On behalf of the people of Israel, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to President Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th president.” Herzog wrote about X.
“You are a true friend of Israel. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to building Israel's security and a better future for our region. Special thanks to you for your efforts to bring all the hostages home.” he continued.
“We wish you and your administration great success in serving the American people. Good luck!” Herzog added.

The comments came a day after Hamas released three hostages to Israel, which it had held for about 500 days, as part of a ceasefire and hostage release agreement.
In return, Israel released 90 Palestinian prisoners in the West Bank.
