Palestinian officials said at least seven people were killed in an Israeli attack on the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Yunis early Tuesday. At least 15 people were wounded, including women and children, officials said.
The Israeli army has said it will “do whatever is necessary” to drive Hezbollah from the Lebanese-Israeli border.
The two countries have been exchanging artillery fire since the war between Israel and Hamas began.
Israel carried out hundreds of airstrikes in southern and eastern Lebanon on Monday, killing around 500 people and wounding more than 1,600.
Thousands of people have fled southern Lebanon, clogging up key roads to Beirut in the biggest exodus since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war.
It's a staggering one-day death toll for a country still recovering from last week's deadly attack on its communications equipment, which Lebanon blamed on Israel, which has neither admitted nor denied responsibility.
Hezbollah fired more than 100 projectiles at Israel on Monday, reaching deep into the country, including around the northern city of Haifa and parts of the occupied West Bank, the army said.
Most of the missiles were intercepted, but shrapnel fell in northern Israel, slightly injuring two people.

Israeli attack kills at least seven in Khan Yunis
DERIBALA, Gaza Strip — Palestinian authorities said an Israeli attack early Tuesday morning killed at least seven people in the southern Gaza city of Khan Yunis.
At least 15 people, including women and children, were injured in the attack.
The dead included five people killed in an attack on the Abu Harb family home in the Kizan al-Najjar neighborhood, the Civil Defense said.
At least 10 people were reportedly injured in the attack.
Another explosion hit a house in the Talia district of Khan Younis, killing at least two people and wounding five, rescuers said.
The casualties from both attacks were confirmed in Khan Yunis hospital records.
Israel says it tries to avoid harming civilians but has made few comments about individual attacks.
The Gaza Health Ministry says more than 41,000 Palestinians have been killed since the start of the war.
It was not clear how many fighters there were, but just over half were said to be women and children.
The war began when Hamas-led terrorists invaded southern Israel on October 7, killing around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducting around 250.
About 100 of those prisoners remain in Gaza, a third of whom are believed to have died.
United Arab Emirates airline cancels flights to Lebanon
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Airlines in the United Arab Emirates, a key east-west transportation hub, canceled flights to Lebanon on Tuesday because of ongoing cross-border fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.
Long-haul airlines Emirates and Etihad Airways cancelled flights, as did budget carrier Flydubai.
The United Arab Emirates, which signed a diplomatic recognition agreement with Israel in 2020, is home to a large Lebanese population.
