"It Could Have Taken My Life": Country Music Artist Hardy Speaks Out About Terrifying Bus Accident

Hardy Reflects on Harrowing Bus Crash

Country singer Hardy shared his experience regarding the frightening bus crash during a recent interview.

He likened the scene to a movie set, saying it felt like “a bomb went off,” as he recounted the details to Rolling Stone.

In a video interview, he described the terrifying incident from October 2, 2022, which put him in the hospital. It occurred while he was heading back from a concert in Bristol, Tennessee. Hardy explained that his bus driver faced a medical issue, leading the bus to veer off the road.

All four individuals on board, including Hardy, his photographer, the tour manager, and the driver, sustained serious injuries when the bus went tumbling down an embankment, hidden from view of passing vehicles.

While Hardy had previously mentioned the crash in brief snippets, this was the first time he opened up about what transpired before and after the accident.

He recalled that he and his photographer were FaceTiming their friend Morgan Wallen when the driver pulled over to use the restroom. Sensing something was off, Hardy asked the driver if he was alright when he returned from the bathroom.

“I asked, ‘You good?’ and he reassured me. I then asked how much longer we had, and he replied the same way,” Hardy recounted.

Shortly after, “we found ourselves just two miles down the road, when he either had an aneurysm or a seizure. The bus then careened off the side and flipped over three times,” he explained.

As the bus rolled, Wallen was still on the phone and thought it was a prank. When Hardy came to, he realized he was upside-down, pinned to the ceiling of the bus.

“We were all knocked unconscious. When I woke up, I was trapped… My head was nearly beneath the panel, and I had to push myself out,” he said. “If we had slid just another foot, I might not be here.”

He described the chaos that followed as he crawled through the broken front windshield, revealing that the bus had veered so far down that it was undetectable from the highway.

“All these vehicles were zooming by, unaware of our situation,” Hardy said. “I was wearing a black hoodie with a large white circle on it and thought waving it would attract attention. I did that for about half an hour, but nobody stopped.”

In shock and without his glasses, Hardy’s vision was impaired, which made the situation even more daunting. “I was really nervous about going back in… I feared for Tanner’s life,” he admitted.

In the end, all four men endured serious injuries but survived the crash.
