J6 Pardons ‘Obscene,’ a ‘Grotesque Display’ of Trump’s Power as President

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said Monday on MSNBC's “Inside” that President Donald Trump pardoned about 1,500 defendants and prisoners on Jan. 6 and commuted the sentences of eight more. He called it “a grotesque display of new power as president.”

Host Jen Psaki said, “I have to start, I mean, in the last hour, Donald Trump was in the Oval Office, and I think it was a choice, and he was convicted of storming the Capitol.'' “We have just pardoned 1,500 people who have received this.” You did a very important job at the committee meeting on January 6th. You didn't hesitate to talk about the impact this has on our country. What's going on in your head right now? ”

“It's despicable,” Schiff said. I can't help but imagine that pardoning these 15 or 1,600 people would be a grotesque display of new presidential power, and that some of them would include people who have committed violence against law enforcement. do not have. That apparently includes one of the leaders of the Proud Boys, and sadly one of his first acts in office was to issue pardons to such white supremacist leaders. It's quite fitting that it's included. ”

He added: “It's very hard to imagine that we were sitting in the Capitol, the site of that attack, and hours later the man who instigated that attack pardoned the people who took part in that attack. A really terrible beginning. However, it is not surprising as it is the beginning of a new administration.
