Jade Cargill faces Rhea Ripley for the WWE women's championship at WrestleMania 42

Jade Cargill Shines as WWE Women’s Champion

Las Vegas – Jade Cargill has been making waves in WWE since her debut in 2023.

Recently, she teamed up with Naomi and Bianca Belair to claim victory over Dakota Kai, Asuka, and Kairi Sane at WrestleMania 40. Leading Kai to that victory was quite a moment for Cargill. And at WrestleMania 41, she made history by being part of the first non-standard women’s singles match at the event. However, things took a turn after her friendship with Naomi faded, resulting in their split.

Now, Cargill finds herself back in the spotlight as the reigning WWE Women’s Champion.

Cargill recently defeated Tiffany Stratton in the main event of Saturday Night in November to secure the championship. Looking ahead, she’s set to defend her title against Rhea Ripley, the Women’s Elimination Chamber winner, during the second night of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

In an interview, she expressed confidence, stating, “I mean, I’m me. I’m Jade Cargill. I’m the champion. I’m stronger. I’m bigger.” She acknowledged that Ripley has experience, but emphasized, “I’ve done this before.” Cargill also noted her current momentum, mentioning her recent formation of a group with Michin and B-Fab, leaving it open as to whether they would aid her at WrestleMania, but highlighting the presence of allies.

She described her relationship with Michin and B-Fab as more of an alliance than a traditional group. They share common ground in dealing with their mutual opponent, expressing that their motivation was simply about removing “an outsider” from the equation.

Cargill reflected on her journey in WWE, highlighting the ups and downs since her debut during the 2024 Royal Rumble. During that time, she played a crucial role in helping Naomi and Belair, even achieving success as a two-time tag team champion and winning the Queen of the Ring tournament in 2025.

As she prepares for WrestleMania 42, Cargill discussed the challenges she’s faced in adapting to her role. Initially entering as a fan-favorite, she admitted, “I’m a heel at heart. I want people to hate me.” This shift, along with learning to be more selfless, has marked her development over the years.

Holding the championship for over 165 days, Cargill aims to extend her dominance well into WrestleMania 42 this weekend.
