National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan made anti-Semitic claims at a White House press conference on Monday that Israel is interfering in American politics.
He offered no evidence for his claims, but acknowledged that the question he was asked had nothing to do with the differences between US and Israeli policies in the ongoing war with Hamas.
Sullivan was asked about Netanyahu’s claim that he has the support of a majority of Israelis for his plan to attack Hamas’ last stronghold in the city of Rafah, and whether Biden could speak directly to Israelis. Ta.
Prime Minister Netanyahu’s claims are supported by opinion polls.one of the recent investigation It turns out that 75% of Israelis support Rafah’s attack on Hamas. It is believed that terrorist leaders are hiding in Hamas and holding the remaining 134 Israelis hostage.
Sullivan responded that what he acknowledged was: non-uniform.
“First of all, there’s a kind of interesting irony in this question, because the prime minister is talking on American television about his concerns about Americans meddling in Israeli politics, and your question… ‘Should Americans interfere in Israeli politics?’The fact is, as much as they talk about our politics, we don’t act,” Sullivan said.
“But that’s not a constructive answer to your question, it’s just an observation,” he added.
The Anti-Defamation League specifically identified Claims that Israel or Jews dominate American politics as a form of anti-Semitism are common in anti-Israel propaganda in the Middle East.
There are no known instances of Israel interfering in American elections. And certainly no Israeli leader has called on the United States to replace the president, as President Joe Biden did with Prime Minister Netanyahu last week.
Sullivan also said in the call that Biden has called Israeli officials to a meeting next week to discuss Rafah. Biden said it was “nonsense” that opposing the Hamas attack in Rafah meant allowing Hamas to win.
