Jalen Hurts Clarifies Relationship with AJ Brown
Jalen Hurts took a moment to address AJ Brown’s recent wedding during a media interview on Wednesday. Although he wasn’t present for the event, which took place on May 18, he expressed a positive sentiment towards his teammate and close friend.
“Nothing has changed since we last spoke at the end of the season,” Hurts mentioned. “We get along really well. I saw some really beautiful photos from his wedding. I’m genuinely happy for him and his wife and their family. Stepping into Covenant is amazing, and I was really excited and celebrated for it.”
It remains unclear if Hurts received an invitation to the wedding held at Montage Laguna Beach in California. Given their long-standing friendship—dating back to their college days in the SEC, with Hurts at Alabama and Brown at Ole Miss—it seems unusual if he missed out on an invite.
On top of that, Hurts is the godfather of Brown’s daughter, Jercie, adding a deeper connection between the two.
Interestingly, no other Eagles players attended the wedding, and it’s still uncertain if they were invited. However, Darius Slay, a former teammate who retired in March, was there.
Brown’s future with the Eagles seems to be in flux, raising some eyebrows. Apparently, there’s talk he might be looking to move as soon as June 1, when NFL contracts become more adaptable with free agency and trade possibilities.
This buzz started after Brown shared his frustration with his role on the team, particularly regarding the lack of targets during games.
When Hurts was asked about Brown’s potential departure and its effect on the offense, he took a sip of water, which created an awkward pause in the conversation. “You chose the perfect moment for a sip, didn’t you?” someone remarked.
Hurts then indicated, “In our case, we’re just focused on learning the offense. This doesn’t really alter our approach to improving. There are always ‘what ifs.’ It’s definitely a lingering topic. But honestly, nothing can replace all the great things we accomplished together.”
The Eagles had a successful season last year, winning the NFC East but ultimately falling to the 49ers in the playoffs, wrapping up with an 11-6 record.
