Carville Threatens Legal Action Against Trump Family
Democratic strategist James Carville declared in a social media video on Tuesday that Democrats would target the Trump family’s wealth if they regain power.
New York Attorney General Letitia James had previously sued Trump in September 2022, alleging he inflated his real estate holdings to secure loans, further investigating him from the 2018 presidential campaign. Carville, referencing a hypothetical future where Democrats seize control in the 2026 midterms, suggested they would adopt a similar strategy.
“People are watching, and when Democrats are back in power come January, they will tackle corruption right away,” Carville stated. “We intend to track down all the illicit funds and pursue legal action. We hope to raise resources and return them to the American people.”
In a related court ruling, New York Judge Arthur Engoron ordered Trump to pay $354 million, with total penalties exceeding $450 million due by February 16, 2024.
Real estate experts noted that the ruling did not accurately reflect the market value of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property in Florida, which some believe is worth over $250 million.
Carville has previously indicated that Trump might “make a deal” following new investigations from Democrats, who have been scrutinizing him since his 2016 win, suggesting that Trump’s children and their spouses should also face investigation.
“They will come after you and start tracking down the stolen money. Then they’ll look into your kids and their partners, and all the other things happening,” Carville remarked in a video from March 31.
