James Carville, a Democratic strategist, issued a public apology on Thursday for sharing a video that hinted at a supposed “Epstein connection” regarding First Lady Melania Trump.
During a recent episode of his Political War Room Podcast, the 80-year-old acknowledged that he deleted and edited the controversial video after receiving communication from Melania’s lawyer.
In his explanation, Carville mentioned, “In last week’s episode, I spoke with Judd Legum. Afterward, I got a letter from Melania Trump’s attorney, expressing concerns about the title of a YouTube video linked to that episode, along with some comments I made regarding the First Lady.”
He further stated, “They expressed their concerns, so we deleted the video and changed those comments.” Carville also added that he would retract his statements and apologize, although there was a tone of recitation in his delivery.
Melania Trump later shared excerpts of Carville’s apology on X, as well as screenshots of the video that had been removed.
The YouTube clip bore the title “James Carville: The Epstein Connection – Trump & Melania.”
It’s not entirely clear what specific accusations Carville made since the remarks have since been erased.
This retraction came after the Daily Beast, a left-leaning news outlet, had also come under scrutiny for a story that raised similar questions about Melania. The outlet revealed that they received a letter from her lawyer, objecting to the article’s title and framing.
The editor’s note clarified, “After the article was published, we heard from Melania Trump’s legal team, who took issue with the headlines and presentation.” The note continued, “Upon reviewing the matter, we decided to retract the article and apologize for any confusion.”
This earlier piece featured claims by Michael Wolff, suggesting that a modeling agent with ties to Jeffrey Epstein introduced Melania to President Trump.
Melania herself recounted their meeting in her memoir, noting that they connected at a New York fashion week party at the Kit Kat Klub in September 1998. She remembered, “I found myself attracted to his magnetic energy,” leading to their engagement six years later and marriage in 2005.
