James Comer Alerts Clintons to Appear for Epstein Depositions or Risk Contempt of Congress: 'Time's Up'

Pressure on Clintons to Appear in Epstein Case

Former President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary are facing increasing pressure to testify in court regarding the case of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman James Comer shared this concern in a press release, noting that depositions are set for Wednesday and Thursday.

“Over four months have gone by since we issued subpoenas for Bill and Hillary Clinton in connection with our investigation into the appalling actions of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. During this period, the former president and secretary of state have consistently delayed and largely ignored our attempts to arrange their testimonies,” Comer remarked.

He further mentioned, “Should the Clintons fail to appear for their depositions next week, or for their scheduled dates in early January, we will move forward with contempt of Congress charges.”

Comer previously indicated in August that he had subpoenaed the Clintons along with several well-known political figures as part of the Epstein investigation.

  • Notable names mentioned include former US Attorneys General William Barr, Robert Mueller, Loretta Lynch, and former FBI Director James Comey.

In July, it was reported that former President Clinton acknowledged in his 2024 book Citizen: My Life After the White House that he had flown on Epstein’s private jet, often referred to as the Lolita Express, as part of his duties with the Clinton Global Initiative. He expressed regret, stating, “I wish we had never met,” and noted that the repercussions lingered for years.

Moreover, Epstein had visited the White House multiple times, at least 17, in the years following Clinton’s inauguration in 1993.

In November, Comer communicated with the lawyers for the Clintons, emphasizing the couple’s obligation to appear for depositions tied to the federal inquiries into Epstein and Maxwell.

A spokesperson for Comer remarked that the Clintons appear to think they are above the law and are attempting to evade their court obligations. “We informed their legal team that they need to show up next week or in early January, or we will pursue contempt proceedings. There has been considerable delay already, and time is of the essence,” the spokesperson stated.
