James Comer Asks Joe Biden to Respond to 4 Family Business Contradictions

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) on Thursday asked President Joe Biden to appear before the committee to answer questions about four discrepancies regarding lucrative Biden family businesses. did.

The White House previously downplayed the idea of Joe Biden testifying before Congress.

The impeachment inquiry is investigating Joe Biden, along with Hunter Biden, James Biden, and other family members, for their involvement in the Biden family’s business. House investigators uncovered a massive wire transfer scheme, 20 shell companies and associates in which the Biden family’s business collected at least $24 million from foreigners over a nearly five-year period.

It was also revealed that Joe Biden received money from James Biden and Hunter Biden. It also revealed that nine more members of the Biden family, including two of Joe Biden’s grandchildren, received compensation from the family’s overseas business operations.

In his letter, Comer asked Joe Biden to answer questions about his participation in the Family Influence Rewards Program. Joe Biden “participated in a scheme to provide you and others with access to your office in exchange for payments to your family,” Comer wrote, citing witnesses.

Comer emphasized his previous claim that Joe Biden “did not engage in any influence spreading activities in exchange for payments to his family,” and juxtaposed that claim with evidence from an investigation. .

Comer asked Joe Biden to answer four contradictions:

1: China

Comer writes: “You claimed that your family made no money from China. However, the committee identified approximately $10 million that originated from China in connection with Biden’s influence propaganda.”

2: Ukraine

Comer writes: “You claim that your pressure on Ukraine in 2015 to fire government officials investigating companies in which your son had a financial interest was entirely in line with U.S. policy. The committee found that your son was paid $1 million a year for his position as director of the Ukrainian company Burisma until you left public service, after which his salary was inexplicably cut in half. We have obtained bank records showing that you did so. Additionally, the Committee is being stonewalled by the White House regarding the information it needs to evaluate your actions regarding the firing of Ukrainian government officials.”

3: Russia

Comer writes: “You claim that you ‘never discuss business’ with your family’s business associates. However, the Committee finds that you do in fact regularly participate in meetings on speakerphone and that We have received testimony that your involvement included meetings with certain Russians with whom your son had dealings. We have identified several matching examples.”

4: Loan

Comer writes: “The Commission was successful in identifying and tracing funds transferred to your own bank accounts from foreign transactions, including in China. Certain checks are described as “loan repayments.”[s]. ” But the person who offered you free bookkeeping when you were vice president (and your son’s business partner) had no recollection of any evidence of loans from your account. The White House declined to provide supporting evidence of the loan. Regardless of whether you were paid or repaid using the funds obtained from these transactions, the Committee believes that your family received these funds only through your own participation in meetings with business partners. We have collected evidence to show that. In fact, “Biden family business associates” actually became your business associates when their substance and your efforts made it possible for them to pay or repay you. ”
