James Comey Indicted Again Over Social Media Post
James Comey, the former FBI Director, faced charges on Tuesday linked to a social media post from May 2025, which has since been removed, according to several reports.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has raised concerns regarding Comey’s Instagram post that included the numbers “8647.” This marks the second time the DOJ has indicted him. The number “86,” often used in slang to indicate taking someone out, drew criticism that led Comey to delete the post. He later stated he was unaware that “86” could be interpreted in that manner.
In a conversation with MS NOW, Comey mentioned that he and his wife stumbled upon the shell that inspired the post. His wife informed him that in the restaurant world, “86” is a term used to remove items from the menu. Believing the shell’s design was “clever,” he shared a photo of it online.
Former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced that the Secret Service would investigate Comey’s claims of having “called for the assassination” of Trump. Comey agreed to meet with Secret Service officials regarding the matter, but the DOJ eventually dropped the case.
Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, suggested that Comey should be “in jail,” expressing her concerns for Trump’s safety.
This latest indictment follows a previous one in September for lying during testimony in 2020 and obstructing a congressional investigation. Those charges were dismissed by a judge in November, who ruled that the appointment of Lindsay Harrigan as interim U.S. attorney did not comply with federal law.
Recently, an attempted assassination of President Trump occurred at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington Hilton, leading to the arrest of the suspect, Cole Allen.
