Charlotte (WJZY) — Some of the biggest music stars with ties to North Carolina will gather for a show later this month to raise money for Hurricane Helen relief efforts, organizers announced Monday.
”concert for carolina“,” featuring North Carolina singers James Taylor, Luke Combs and Eric Church, will be held on October 26th at Bank of America Stadium in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina, with all proceeds going to Carolina. The money will be donated to Hurricane Helen relief efforts across the state. Tepper Sports & Entertainment announced on Monday.
“When Luke first approached us with the idea of a concert to benefit local relief efforts, we felt compelled to open the doors of Bank of America Stadium for this special moment. I felt it,” David and Nicole Tepper said Monday.
“Every day, we are further inspired by the strength and determination of the Carolina community, and we are grateful to join Luke, Eric, and our fellow Carolinians on our path to recovery.” they added.
Marty Smith and Caleb Presley will be emcees for the event, and the show will be sponsored by Explore Asheville and the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority. Billy Strings, a Michigan native who has performed numerous times throughout the Carolinas, will also perform.
Church is from Granite Falls, Combs is from Asheville, North Carolina, and Taylor is from Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Tickets will go on sale at Ticketmaster starting this Thursday at 10am.
Helen was the deadliest hurricane to hit the continental United States since Katrina in 2005. The death toll rose to 227 over the weekend, about half of them in North Carolina, with dozens more in Georgia and South Carolina.
