Jamie Foxx has addressed the conspiracy theory suggesting that Sean “Diddy” Combs was involved in a serious medical emergency he faced in 2023.
The actor, known for his role in “Ray,” shared that while he was sedated with painkillers in the hospital, he managed to sneak his phone and see the reactions from the outside world. He mentioned during a recent Hollywood Reporter Round Table that the speculation was hard to handle. “I didn’t realize people were saying I had a stroke,” Foxx, 57, recalled. “I saw things like, ‘I tried to kill the swelling on me.’”
He firmly stated, “No, the swelling didn’t try to kill me.” However, it was a rumor about him being a clone that truly caught him off guard.
Foxx elaborated, “When they said I was a clone, it really disturbed me. Here I was in a hospital bed.” Despite his heavy medication and the serious nature of his situation, he still managed to inject humor into the conversation. The next morning, he jokingly responded to a psychiatrist, “I know what’s going on, you’re trying to clone me and make it white, so I’ll sell better overseas.” The psychiatrist’s reaction was notably concerned, prompting him to suggest a reduction in Foxx’s medication dose.
The “Django Unchained” star has previously refuted conspiracy theories surrounding his medical incident, notably addressing it during his 2024 Netflix stand-up special, “What Happened.” “The internet said Puffy was trying to kill me. You’re probably thinking, ‘Diddy?’ No way, I left the party early,” he quipped.
In his special, Foxx emphasized that he has distanced himself from Diddy’s parties since he was “out at age 9” due to their wild nature. “It gets slippery here,” he remarked.
Diddy, who was arrested in September 2024 and faces trial for sex trafficking and assault, has had a history of hosting controversial parties. If convicted, he could face life in prison.
Foxx’s medical complications, which included a stroke caused by a cerebral hemorrhage, led to his hospitalization in April 2023. He shared that he experienced significant memory loss, adding that he woke up in a wheelchair after what he described as a “bad headache.” Thankfully, he credits his sister, Daedra Dixon, and her daughter, Annellies, for providing him with much-needed support during his recovery.
