Former President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner said the lives of Palestinians could be vastly improved if they focused on building “valuable” infrastructure instead of terrorist tunnels. .
Kushner made the remarks in an interview with Harvard Kennedy School published by the Middle East Initiative earlier this month. The interview focused on the future of Gaza and the Palestinian people after the end of Israel’s retaliatory war against Hamas.
“Gaza’s waterfront assets could become extremely valuable if people focused on building livelihoods,” Kushner said. “If you think about all the money that went into this tunnel system and all the munitions, what could have been done if it had been spent on education and innovation?”
“It’s a bit of an unfortunate situation, but from an Israeli perspective, they’re going to do their best to get people out and then clean it up,” Kushner added. “But I don’t think Israel has said it doesn’t want people to come back there afterwards.”
