Representative Crockett Discusses Voter Education

In a recent podcast appearance, Representative Jasmine Crockett from Texas expressed her belief that many individuals vote inappropriately due to a lack of education on the issues at hand.

Speaking on “The Jamal Bryant Podcast: Let’s Be Clear,” she shared her view that people often don’t make the voting choices she believes they should, primarily because they aren’t fully informed. “Most people voted the wrong way because they were uneducated,” she stated.

Crockett was quick to clarify that her remarks weren’t aimed at insulting anyone’s intelligence. Life’s demands can overwhelm individuals; for instance, keeping a roof over one’s head or ensuring children have what they need can distract from political awareness. “You’re trying to keep a roof over your head, keep food on the table,” she said, acknowledging this struggle.

As they discussed the upcoming U.S. Senate and gubernatorial elections in 2026, Crockett emphasized the importance of not just voting but also motivating others to become informed voters. “I need y’all to understand that it’s not going to be good enough that you go out and vote. You got to make sure you’re educating people,” she insisted.

In her conversation with Bryant, she urged listeners to actively educate others, saying, “Educate, educate, educate, kick, drag, scream, do whatever you have to do, because we say every election is a matter of life and death.”

Crockett also resonated with the common sentiment that many politicians are perceived as dishonest or corrupt. “One of the things that I tell people all the time is that most people don’t really want to hear from a politician. They don’t trust us,” she noted. Acknowledging that many share this skepticism, she urged people not to feel powerless. “Don’t feel powerless because the moment that you give in and say that you’re powerless, they win. That’s what they want you to do,” she cautioned.
