Texas Representative Calls for Impeachment Proceedings Against Trump
Texas Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett has called for impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump as he pursues a Senate seat. During a recent debate with fellow Democrat James Talarico, held in front of union members at the AFL-CIO political convention, she articulated her stance clearly.
Crockett seemed resolute, asserting that “there is more than enough to impeach Donald Trump.” When asked whether the formal process should be initiated, she responded affirmatively. Talarico, on the other hand, didn’t confirm his support but remarked, “the administration has certainly committed impeachable offenses.”
Crockett has been vocal in her criticisms of Trump, particularly regarding his immigration policies. She has previously equated his immigration enforcement actions to those of Nazi Germany and accused the Supreme Court of endorsing what she described as “modern-day slave patrols.”
In addition to her remarks against Trump, Crockett has joined over 70 House Democrats in supporting articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. She alleges that Noem has systematically abused her power and violated civil and constitutional rights. “What we are witnessing is not public safety. It is state-sanctioned violence,” Crockett stated, demanding accountability for perceived violations.
The Democratic nominee for the Senate will be determined in the primary election on March 3rd. The victor will then face the Republican candidate, who could be either Congressman Wesley Hunt or Attorney General Ken Paxton.
