Oops.
Caleb McCarty went from being a hero to zero within seconds.
The South Carolina forward made a brutal blunder in the second half of the final of the Athletic Conference Tournament with top-seeded Norfolk, sacrificing a potential shot to his team in an automatic bid for the NCAA tournament.
With the second-seeded SC State chasing 65-63, McCarty took advantage of Norfolk State's sales on inbound pass to score a layup and tie the game with the remaining 65 of 65 seconds.
However, McCarty appears to have no idea of the score, as he chased Christian Ing and fouled him after Norfolk state involved the ball.
It gave two free throws as a perfect gift.
He then attacked one of the two, giving Norfolk State a 66-65 lead with 8.9 seconds remaining.

Then the final gasp of the SC State missed the buzzer and sent Norfolk State to Big Dance, causing SC State to heartbreak.
McCarty finished with four points, two rebounds and one costly foul.
The SC State led at halftime between the ages 34 and 25, but the team's 22nd NCAA Tournament drought continues.
