We’ve all picked up on Vice President JD Vance’s enthusiasm for the Cincinnati Bengals, so it’s no surprise he had a reason to celebrate on Sunday when his team triumphed over the Baltimore Ravens.
Although Vance wasn’t in Baltimore for the game, the Bengals scored all 35 of their points in the second half, largely powered by quarterback Joe Burrow’s four touchdown passes.
JD VANCE VISITS CINCINNATI BENGALS PRACTICE AND QUARTERBACK JOE BURROW IS CONVINCED IT WAS MOSTLY ABOUT HIM
It seems the kind of performance that fans expect from a team considered a Super Bowl contender, especially on the offensive side.
That has to make Vance feel pretty optimistic about his team’s prospects.
“Huge win for Cincinnati,” Vance shared on X.
Imagine that—the Vice President of the United States tweeting about his favorite NFL team. It’s a curious sight, to say the least.
But Vance kept going, adding, “It’s early, but I think the Bengals are going to make a run. Who Dey!”
They’ve just secured back-to-back wins, but, well, I think it’s safe to say they really need that momentum Vance is banking on.
They’ve had quite the roller coaster season—winning two games, then losing two, and now winning two again. If they keep that rhythm up, it seems likely we could be looking at some frustrating games down the line.
But Vance, the dedicated fan, appears to have a different take on it.
Speaking of fandom, I think Vance really admires Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
JA’MARR CHASE THROWS HELMET AS FIGHT BREAKS OUT ON FIRST DAY OF BENGALS TRAINING CAMP
Last week, when Vance visited the Bengals’ training facility, Chase noticed that Vance’s six-year-old son, Vivek, was holding Bengals football gloves.
“Nice gloves, man,” Chase remarked as he entered the locker room.
This clearly caught the VP’s ear.
“Special shoutout to Ja’Marr Chase, an amazing talent, who made my little six-year-old’s year by noticing his football gloves,” Vance later said.
Interestingly, there were some “reports” suggesting that the Bengals were unwelcoming during Vance’s visit. But, as Vance might say, that’s just fake news.
He actually got to shake hands and chat with coach Zac Taylor, along with various players and coaches.
Now, returning to that “run” Vance is forecasting—over the next five games, the Bengals take on four teams that currently have losing records. Two of those teams, the Washington Commanders and Tennessee Titans, have each only managed to win once.
However, they’ll also face the division co-leader, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in that stretch, which will be key in assessing what sort of run they can put together.
