Vice President J.D. Vance Hosts Event in North Carolina

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Vice President J.D. Vance visited North Carolina on Friday, where he highlighted the state of the economy, urged support for Republican candidates in upcoming elections, and commented on the ongoing situation in Iran.

At the local event, Vance was accompanied by former RNC chair and Republican Senate hopeful Michael Whatley, as well as Small Business Administration administrator Kelly Loeffler.

“We’ve seen a significant uptick in new home purchases, the highest it’s been in five years,” Vance noted. “Rents have decreased for six consecutive months since the last time Donald Trump occupied the presidency.”

“On average, North Carolina families are receiving around $3,700 in tax refunds,” he continued. “Moreover, interest rates are at their lowest level since those Trump years.”

Loeffler introduced Vance, emphasizing their efforts to address what she called wasteful government spending and misuse of taxpayer dollars. “There’s been fraud that diverted your hard-earned money overseas, alongside the Democrats’ policies that, in their view, reduce police funding and invite crime into our neighborhoods,” she claimed.

Discussing the matter of Iran, Vance pointed to its nuclear capabilities as a key concern warranting U.S. intervention. “As the president has repeatedly stated, our military operations are aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons,” he said. “This has been a consistent principle across presidential administrations.”

When asked about his private counsel to the president prior to military actions in Iran, Vance chose not to reveal any classified details. “I won’t disclose everything from inside the Situation Room, mostly because I’d prefer to avoid legal issues, and also, it’s crucial for presidential advisors to speak freely without media interference,” he explained.

Vance displayed strong support for Whatley’s Senate campaign and criticized his Democratic challenger. “Roy Cooper seems more focused on foreign matters than the residents of our state,” Vance remarked. “You can sense his urgency when advocating for illegal immigrants, yet that passion is absent when he speaks about those in this very room.”

A spokesperson for Cooper dismissed Vance’s assertions, defending the governor’s record on crime. “Roy Cooper has always prioritized public safety, effectively prosecuting serious offenders throughout his career,” they stated, countering claims made by Whatley.

In conclusion, Vance addressed questions regarding the Justice Department’s recent Fraud Task Force. He revealed that an analysis of wrongdoing during the Trump administration uncovered “at least” $19 billion in fraud, particularly in areas like Minneapolis. “We’re currently working to unveil the extent of misconduct in California, as well,” Vance added. “It’s about time we held accountable those who have misled Americans for far too long.”
