Jeb Bush Praises Trump’s Stance on Iran

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush has expressed admiration for President Donald Trump’s leadership regarding denuclearization and democracy in Iran. He emphasized that his organization, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), is prepared to support Trump and the Iranian people in their struggle against Ali Khamenei.

It’s interesting, really—when Trump stepped into the political arena back in 2015, Jeb was his strongest competitor, famously dubbing him “Low Energy Jeb.” Yet now, it seems there’s a truce of sorts, with Bush commending Trump for calling Iran a “patriot.” It’s a bit of a twist in their relationship.

Recently, Trump urged protests against the regime, stating on Truth Social, “Take over our institutions. Save the names of our murderers and abusers. They will pay dearly.”

Bush conveyed that Trump’s actions represent significant support for the Iranian citizens who are bravely standing up for their freedoms, despite facing bullets. UANI, which Bush leads along with former Ambassador Mark Wallace, is backing Trump’s efforts, as indicated in their shared statement.

They pointed out that previous U.S. administrations had been rather lukewarm in their support of the Iranian people, particularly in the face of oppressive actions by the Ayatollah. Bush noted that Trump’s public statements have changed the narrative, showing that the West is finally recognizing the dire situation faced by Iranians.

The two are aligning quite differently now compared to the chaotic times of the 2016 campaign, where Trump often taunted Bush about his family’s political legacy. For instance, he reputedly quipped, “Mom can’t help you with ISIS,” referencing a campaign ad featuring Barbara Bush.

Bush had previously characterized Trump during a debate as “good with one-liners,” yet dubbed him a “candidate for disruption.” Quite the journey to now being allies of sorts, isn’t it?

Senior government officials have also voiced their support for the Iranian populace against the regime’s persistent human rights abuses and authoritarian practices. After all, the current Iranian leadership is often regarded as one of the world’s worst violators of human rights. They seem to be keeping the people suppressed to maintain their power.
