Epstein’s Alleged Connections with Foreign Governments Discussed in House Oversight Hearing
Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who has faced serious allegations of sexual misconduct, may have been collaborating with various foreign governments, potentially serving as an asset for American adversaries, according to Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL). This statement came after survivors provided testimonies before the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday.
“Victims indicate that we need to trace the financial links,” Luna shared. “This appears to be a highly organized operation with numerous branches, including shell companies.”
She noted that multiple foreign entities are supposedly involved with Epstein. One victim reportedly mentioned that “his newborn daughter was a pressure point” in the situation.
Luna elaborated on what she described as an “international human trafficking network,” which allegedly involves not just high-profile individuals from both major political parties but also the trafficking of women from Eastern European nations, with claims of immigration fraud.
After the committee meeting, she told a reporter, “There are incredibly wealthy and influential individuals who should face charges.” She expressed frustration about the lack of previous actions regarding the case.
“It’s quite probable that Jeffrey Epstein was somehow an asset for intelligence operations,” she added, raising questions about the extent of governmental awareness on the matter.
As of Tuesday, more than 33,000 pages of videos related to the Epstein case have been summoned by the Oversight Committee to the Department of Justice. However, lawmakers suggested that most of this material was already publicly available.
Some of Epstein’s victims participated in a press conference with Reps. Thomas Massey (R-KY) and Ro Khanna (D-CA) to advocate for increased transparency.
Additionally, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) supported the victims and mentioned her intent to publicly name individuals connected to allegations of sexual abuse.
Massey and Khanna are pressing the DOJ to support a bill aimed at releasing more information related to Epstein, and they are gathering signatures for a discharge petition. Kanna indicated that they are close to reaching the required threshold for signatures.
Massey criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson for allegedly neglecting discussions about sex trafficking. He stated, “The White House seems reluctant to release information pertinent to this situation.”
In contrast, Johnson argued that Massey’s concerns were largely irrelevant. Meanwhile, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) asserted that the committee is making progress on releasing more documents.
Luna voiced her support for these efforts and expressed willingness to sign the discharge petition following the victim’s testimonies.
In a separate event, Trump dismissed the press conference, emphasizing that the discussions detracted from the nation’s successes during his presidency. He added, “No matter what happens, it keeps coming up. I honestly think that’s enough.”
